.: Principal's Message - Dr. Sanjay Agarwal

Since 2006 the Inderprastha Dental College & Hospital has been providing education in oral health care science. We aim to create a progressive oral health workforce, develop community collaborations, and bring advances in science to address the pressing oral health needs of our nation. We do this by preparing our students to be highly competent oral health care professionals. Our students learn the importance of group effort and team approach, as they prepare to launch their careers in clinics, hospitals or academics.

The college delivers a modern integrated BDS program of five years. Our graduates master a rigorous program, and are superbly equipped to meet the challenges that they’ll face as dental professionals head on. In a short period of time Inderprastha Dental College & Hospital has grown into a premier institution that is recognized for its excellence nationally.

Under the guidance of high specialized dental and medical faculty the student acquires a solid foundation in biomedical sciences. This knowledge forms the source for understanding the wide variety of diseases that a dentist must diagnose and treat; it also forms the foundation for the effective practice of preventive dentistry.

With approximately 100 dedicated faculty members in 9 fields of dentistry and medicine, we are on the cutting edge of both oral health education and delivery of patient care. The Dental College is a dynamic place where students, faculty and staff come together to share knowledge and skills that will benefit patients in National Capital Region and India

Situated only 2 kilometers from National Capital and the centre of highly developing residential, retail and commercial area the college has the benefit of a large pool of patients who seek dental treatment at its multi specialty Out Patient Departments (OPD). Each of our nine OPDs is equipped with hi-tech equipment. All OPDs have a pool of specialists who train students in clinical practice. Regular free treatment camps are held in residential blocks and industrial units around the college campus. Our efforts have led to 150 patients visiting our OPDs daily. These patients have access to first-class Oral Treatment by a team of highly qualified specialist at charitable charge. Additional training in patient care is gained during assignments at our 100 bedded multi specialty hospital on the college campus.

By introducing a fully equipped Mobile Dental Clinic we have taken Public Health Dentistry and community service to new heights. This van covers rural areas around the college to treat patients who require dental treatment. The mission of the Mobile Dental Program is to provide free urgent dental care to low-income groups, the homeless and migrant workers who lack awareness or a regular income to pay for treatment.

As you are aware the course duration has been increased from 4 to 5 years to keep up with developments and research being done internationally in oral health care. It will be a system-based program now and a lot of practical knowledge will be introduced. The course structure has been enhanced with additions like dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, laser dentistry and other latest technological innovations to improve the content and curriculum of BDS program. Clinical hours have been increased to adjust the internship time and teaching has been extended into the fifth year as well. This will also ensure that the internship period is not misused by students and they get enough time to study.

Within a nurturing environment, our students have the opportunity to fulfill their objective to achieve excellence clinically and academically. This goal can be fulfilled only if our students are superior and self-confident individuals. Therefore the curriculum also includes public speaking, English language and overall personality development sessions. Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities. The college organizes various cultural and sports events throughout the year.

Students are encouraged to utilize the facilities of library and interact with various internationally recognized institutions of Delhi. Being close to the capital, our students have an opportunity to participate, in inter college festivals and seminars. Here they associate with students from various backgrounds and are acquainted with pioneers of dental industry.

.: About the Principal - Dr. Sanjay Agarwal

Dr. Sanjay Agarwal is a graduate (B.D.S.) as well as a post graduate (M.D.S.) in Conservative Dentistry from King George’s Medical College Lucknow. He was a meritorious student throughout his career and was a National scholarship Holder after high school (Xth Class). He did his B.Sc. degree from Rohailkhand University.

He has also worked as visiting consultant Endodontist as Janki Das Kapoor Memorial Hospital, Naraina Vihar, New Delhi. Here, he treated many complicated dental problems with full success & had good rapport with the patients.

For the betterment of his career he has been continuously searching for modern Dental Scientific methodology and has traveled widely, attending Seminars and Workshops in dentistry. He is member of:-
